Private Rented Project Landlord meetings
Landlord drop-in sessions are held in various locations across Sheffield to give landlords easier access to our service. The service is free and all landlords of private rented properties are welcome to attend.
What are the meetings for?
The informal meetings provide
- Information about the Sheffield Responsible Landlord Scheme and its range of membership benefits.
- Information about the Mandatory Licensing of Houses in Multiple Occupation and other parts of the Housing Act 2004 which will affect private landlords.
- Information about the Landlords for Excellence course which is free to attend.
- Encourage the sharing of expertise, knowledge and experience of other landlords.
- Useful information and practical advice.

Past meetings
A variety of guest speakers have attended meetings including
- CORGI - Council for Registered Gas Installers (Darnall, 12.12.06)
Simon Higginbottom provided an overview of CORGI and the services they provide.
- Nomad SmartMove (Darnall, 12.12.06) and Tertia Sonka provided an overview of this service, its Bond Guarantee Scheme and other benefits available to landlords.
- Taylor and Emmet Solicitors (Attercliffe, 08.11.06) and Tony Gruchot provided an overview of common legal issues landlords face, which included an update on the proposed Tenancy Deposit Scheme prescribed by the Housing Act 2004.
- South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Authority (Burngreave, 15.02.06) Roger Brason presented information about sprinkler systems and the benefits of using this form of fire protection.
- The Rent Service (Tinsley, 15.03.06) Nick Green provided an overview of this service area including future changes to the service.
- Warm Front Energy Grants (Darnall, 06.04.06) Heather Stewart discussed energy efficiency grants and how landlords can access them.
- Fir Vale Community Police Team (Page Hall, 02.03.06) Police work in Fir Vale was discussed and the assistance and advice they can provide.
