Energy Efficiency Advice
Energy efficiency is an important issue for Private Sector Housing and we are currently working to an Energy Efficiency Strategy, that aims to contribute toward ending fuel poverty for vulnerable households by 2010.
For detailed information and specialist advice, please see the energy efficiency section.
We provide the following help and assistance to both owner-occupiers and privately renting tenants:
Disabled Facilities Grants
We help with energy efficiency measures on all Disabled Facilities Grants (DFG) that are given. An energy survey called the National Home Energy Rating (NHER) is carried out which highlights measures that can be included on the DFGs. These can include installing a full central heating system, upgrading the central heating boiler, upgrading heating controls, installing cavity wall & loft insulation and fitting double glazed windows. Please see the disabled facilities grants website
Warm Front Scheme
We are working together with the Warm Front Team to help keep people warmer in winter. If you own or rent from a private landlord & receive income or disability related benefits you may be eligible for a free Warm Front Grant of up to £2,500.
To apply to Warm Front call the Warm Front Team free on 0800 952 1555, between 8am – 6pm Monday – Friday or contact Heather Stewart 273 6294.
We can also provide assistance when the cost of the Warm Front Grant does not cover the full cost of works. If a client has to pay towards the cost of works. We may be able to provide a grant to help towards these costs.
