Older People’s Accommodation
Are you looking for accommodation for older people?
There are 3 main types in Sheffield, depending on your care and support needs. This section tells you more about what is available and how to apply to live in each type of housing.
Extra Care Housing
Extra care schemes allow you to enjoy your independence in high quality, self-contained properties and also meet your health and care needs on site. Sheffield has a number of schemes already completed with more schemes in progress.
Residential and Nursing Care
Residential care offers the same care and help that you could get if a relative or friend looked after you. Staff in a care home can help you with washing and dressing, at meal times and help going to the toilet.
Nursing homes offer 24 hour nursing care by trained nursing staff. The person in charge of the nursing home must be a qualified doctor or nurse, and there will always be nursing staff on duty to care for you.
Sheltered Housing
Sheltered Housing is ideal for people over 60 who enjoy independent living. It aims to provide convenient and comfortable housing where tenants have their own home within a community and can come and go as they please.
