Renewable Energy - Micro Hydro

Related Image
Hydroelectricity is the oldest form of renewable electricity. water has been used for centuries to power wheels to perform different tasks e.g. to produce flour. Nowadays water is used to turn a turbine and create electricity. The faster the water the more electricity produced.

For efficiency, the source of the hydro must be relative close to the site of power usage. If the system is connected to the grid, the surplus can be sold back to the grid. Due to the high set up costs this system is particularly suitable to a community hydro system. This is the most consistent form of renewable electricity.
