Energy Efficiency - Energy Labels
Energy Saving Trust
When buying new household appliances the easiest way to save money and energy is to look for the Energy Efficiency logo.
The Energy Saving Trust display their logo (see right) on all products that are energy efficient. This is your guarantee that the product will save energy, cost less to run and help the environment.
It can be found on:
- light bulbs
- light fittings
- refrigeration products
- laundry and dishwashing appliances
- gas boilers and oil boilers
- heating controls
- loft insulation and draught proofing
- cavity wall and solid wall insulation
European Energy Label
All recommended energy efficient appliances like refrigerators and washing machines will carry the European Energy label (see left).
The EU energy label rates products from A++ (the most efficient/least energy used), down to G (the least efficient/most energy used).
By law, the label must be shown on all refrigeration and laundry appliances, dishwashers, electric ovens and lightbulb packaging.
Products that display the Energy Efficiency Recommended logo meet or exceed specified energy efficiency requirements and are backed by the Government.
