Discounts on central heating
The Government’s Warm Front scheme is pleased to announce a brand new opportunity for people 60 or over, who are not on benefits, to make huge savings on new central heating systems and repairs to broken boilers.
The scheme offers a £300 rebate on the purchase of a new central heating system, or repairs, for people who would not actually qualify for the Warm Front grant itself.
The following terms apply:
- Applicants must be 60 or over
- Applicants must be private owners or privately renting i.e. not renting from the Council or a Housing Association
- To qualify for the rebate the boiler must be broken
- The installer must be approved by WarmFront. If they are not on the approved list they may apply at any time
- The offer must be used within 3 months. If you fail to use it within 3 months you can reapply
How it works
Eaga Group are administering the £300 scheme, and have set up a panel of approved contractors (separate to the Warm Front one), which includes both local and national companies. Applicants should go via Eaga in the first place, and will receive a letter, which acts as a £300 voucher and a list of up to 6 approved contractors operating in their postcode area.
The letter has a unique identifying number and is valid for three months only from date of issue. The applicants contact as many of the 6 contractors as they wish, agree the work, sort out a quote, and the contractor does the work.
The applicant is then billed for the cost of the work minus £300, and the contractor can claim back the remaining £300.
You may use any contractor you wish provided they are registered with Warm Front. They may register at any time.
Full details are available from Eaga WarmFront 0n 0800 316 6011, or contact the SHAW Team 0n 0114 273 6294.

You can now apply online by completing the Warm Front application form.
Once the Warm Front Team receive your application, the Home Energy Advisor will contact you to arrange a time to visit your home. He or she will check your eligibility, assess your property and recommend the best possible package of works from the Warm Front scheme to meet your needs.
The work will be organised through Warm Front, using specialist firms depending on what work is agreed. As long as you remain eligible, and there is still some of the grant left for your home, you can apply again in the future for extra Warm Front work if you need further heating or insulation work.
Save 'N' Warm

The Save 'n' Warm scheme offers free cavity wall insulation and loft insulation if you or anyone in your household is on a qualifying benefit. If you're not on benefits you can still access cheaper prices for insulation through the SYEEAC. All householders living within the administrative boundaries of Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham and Sheffield Councils are eligible regardless of their circumstances.
