Social HomeBuy

Through Social Homebuy, social housing tenants (Council or Housing association) can buy their current home either outright or on a shared ownership terms through the HomeBuy scheme. The cost of purchase is usually at a discount.

 

The amount of the discount available will vary depending on how long you have been a tenant, where you live and the size of the share you want to buy.

 

Not all landlords offer this scheme, (participation is voluntary but encouraged by government – see the Communities and Local Government website for further information).

 

If you are interested in applying, you will need to contact your landlord to find out if they are taking part in the scheme, and if you are eligible.
