Welcome to the Sheffield City Council Housing Services pages
What we do:
- We provide housing to 49,000 council tenants.
- We help thousands of people find new homes every year - properties to rent from the Council or housing associations and low cost homes to buy.
- We work with landlords to improve conditions in the private rented sector and take action if landlords fail to meet standards.
- We work with housing associations and private developers to build new homes in the city.
- We help people find a new home when they become homeless.
Management of Council Housing
- From 1st April 2004, council housing in Sheffield has been managed by a new organisation called Sheffield Homes.
- The Council still owns the housing and tenants have exactly the same rights as before. The same staff are still at the Area Housing Offices, but they now work for Sheffield Homes.
