Keeping Sheffield Safe
The Safer Neighbourhoods Team works to promote safer communities. The team works alongside the Police, Fire Authority, NHS, and voluntary sector as part of the Sheffield Safer Communities Partnership aiming to reduce crime, tackle anti social behaviour and substance misuse.
Safer Neighbourhood Teams have been established across Sheffield to concentrate on the causes of crime and disorder, and improve your quality of life. Teams work closely with community groups in your area to find solutions to problems. They also spend time on patrol in the community, talking to local people and tackling the issues that matter most. Support from you is vital, so if you want to help to make your area safer or have any information about crime or disorder, your team will be pleased to hear from you.
- In Sheffield there are 10 Safer Neighbourhood Areas (SNA), each led by a Police Inspector.
- Within these areas there are 23 Safer Neighbourhood Teams, based in the community and led by a Sergeant.
- Each SNA employs a Safer Neighbourhoods Officer, employed by the Council.
- Each team also has a number of Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs) and Special Constables, who you will see out on patrol in your area.
- Each SNA has a confidential 24-hour contact line that you can use to leave a message for staff. You can leave your contact details for an officer to call you back, or supply anonymous information about non-urgent problems in your area. This is a voicemail service, allowing staff to be out on patrol, but your message will be listened to and acted on as soon as possible.
