Our area
The South Community Assembly covers the four wards of Gleadless Valley, Graves Park, Beauchief and Greenhill and Nether Edge. It covers 1,989 hectares (7.7 square miles) of south Sheffield. It has a population of 73,988.
The South Community Assembly is made up of a mosaic of urban areas surrounded by woodlands, parks and green space.
Meet the team
The Chair of the South Community Assembly is Councillor Clive Skelton and the Deputy Chair is Councillor Colin France.
Supporting Councillors Skelton and France is a team of officers, who can help you and give you information about how Community Assemblies work.
- Martin Hughes, Community Assembly Manager, who will have overall responsibility for assembly activities.
- Dave Aspinall, Planning and Performance Officer, who will help to develop a community plan and make sure that services are adapted to meet local needs.
- Sarah Lucas, Assembly Officer who will ensure good communication and involvement with local residents and groups.
- Garry Collingwood, Safer Neighbourhoods Officer who will work closely with the Police.
- Carol Morton, Team Support Officer, who will provide administrative support to the team.

This is your Community Assembly, so we welcome the opportunity to meet and talk to you about how you can help shape services in your neighbourhood. Attend Community Assembly Meetings & Roadshows
- Thursday 25 March 2010 (Norton Free School, Matthews Lane, Sheffield, S8 8JS). Roadshow will start at 5pm until 6.15pm (food and refreshments provided) and the meeting will start at 6.30pm
- Thursday 10 June 2010 - 5pm Roadshow, meeting will take place at 6.30pm (Venue in Gleadless Valley Ward to be confirmed).
- Thursday 7 October 2010 - 5pm Roadshow, meeting will take place at 6.30pm (Venue in Beauchief & Greenhill Ward to be confirmed).
- Thursday 6th January 2011 - 5pm Roadshow, meeting will take place at 6.30pm (Venue in Nether Edge to be confirmed).
- Thursday 24 March 2011 - 5pm Roadshow, meeting will take place at 6.30pm (Venue in Graves Park Ward to be confirmed).

South Community Assembly funding
You Choose funding
The South Community Assembly held a ‘You Choose’ event on Thursday 21st January at St Mary’s Conference Centre. This event gave residents the opportunity to decide how over £35,000 from the South Community Assembly was allocated to local community projects.
31 projects attended to promote their project, explain how much money they required and generally talk with local residents. Residents then scored all projects from 1 to 5 depending on how they felt about the project. At the end of the evening Cllr Simon Clement-Jones announced that the following projects had been successful in gaining funding:-
