North East Community Assembly - Firth Park, Firvale and Wincobank

Our area

The North East Community Assembly covers the four wards of Burngreave, Southey, Firth Park and Shiregreen Brightside. The North East Community Assembly has a population of approximately 90,000 living in:
 
  • Foxhill
  • Parson Cross
  • Southey
  • Shirecliffe
  • Longley
  • Firth Park
  • Shiregreen
  • Brightside
  • Wincobank
  • Fir Vale
  • Burngreave

Meet the team

The Chair of North East Community Assembly is Councillor Peter Price and the Deputy Chair is Councillor Jane Bird.
 
Supporting Councillor Price is a team of officers, who will also be available to help you and give you information about how Community Assemblies work.
 
  • Alison Rayner, Community Assembly Manager, who will have overall responsibility for assembly activities.
      
  • Vicky Williams, Planning and Performance Officer, who will help to develop a community plan and make sure that services are adapted to meet local needs.
       
  • Hannah Isherwood, Assembly Officer who will ensure good communication and involvement with local residents and groups.
       
  • Lisa Moran, Safer Neighbourhoods Officer who will work closely with the Police.
        
  • Jenny Willert and Debra Seaman, Team Support Officers who will provide administrative support to the team.
 
 

Meetings and events

 
The next formal Assembly meetings are to be held on:
     
  • Wed 21 April 2010 at 6-8pm Chaucer Business and Enterprise Centre, Wordsworth Avenue (buffet and meet your local Councillors from 5.30pm)

  • Wed 21 July 2010 at 6-8pm, venue to be confirmed

Thurs 18 March, 7-9pm, St Thomas More Community Centre, Margetson Crescent S5 9NB for Southey Ward (Fox Hill, New Parson Cross, Old Parson Cross (west of Adlington Road), Southey Green) - bus no 53
 
Thurs 25 March, 6-8pm, Concord Sports Centre, Shiregreen Lane, S5 6AE for Shiregreen and Brightside Ward (Brightside, Grimesthorpe, Lower Blackburn, Shiregreen, Wincobank) - buses no 1 and 2, 47/8
 
 

Wanted! Nominations for the North East Community Assembly New Years Honours 2010

We are inviting you to nominate individuals, community groups or paid workers who have contributed above and beyond the call of duty to their community, and who you feel deserve recognition for the work that they do on behalf of, and for the benefit of residents in the North East Community Assembly area.

This is your Community Assembly, so we welcome the opportunity to meet and talk to you about how you can help shape services in your neighbourhood.

Bring Out Your Rubbish Days

 
Burngreave Ward - around 12 tonnes collected in Musgrave, Fir Vale and Pye Bank areas in November.  Another event planned for the Ellesmere Road area on 25 March 2010.
 
Shiregreen and Brightside Ward - over 20 tonnes collected in Concord, Castledine and Sandstone areas in November.  Another event planned for Grimesthorpe on 31 March 2010.
 
Firth Park Ward - over 20 tonnes collected in Lindsay Avenue and Southey Drive areas and on the Brushes estate (funded by Sheffield Homes 'Your Community, Your Choice') in October and November.  2 more events planned in the Flastaff and Launce Road areas on 23 March and Raisen Hill Road area on 24 March 2010.
 
Southey Ward - around 17 tonnes collected in Binstead, Carill, Cookson and Mansel and Fulmere areas.  Another event to be held in Adlington Road area on 30 March 2010.

Journeys to Hidden Places project

The Neighbourhood Strategies (often referred to as the Masterplan) for the Brightside and Shiregreen area was approved in Jan 2008.  The North Sheffield Regeneration Team was successful in securing Housing Market Renewal funding to deliver improvements in Firth Park and Wincobank.  Journeys to Hidden Places is a project  with an emphasis on creativity and involving as many people as possible.
