Threat of Violence
It is possible for Benefit to be paid for up to 52 weeks if you have had to leave your home because of actual, or fear of, domestic violence. If you are in a refuge, you should ask one of the workers to contact us on your behalf, if you feel unable to do so yourself. As with all other cases, we will deal with your claim in complete confidence. You can be assured that we will not tell anyone the address of the refuge. The Government’s Crime Reduction website provides some useful links to organisations dealing with domestic violence.
