How can I get further help and advice with my Housing and/or Council Tax Benefit?

 
We hope that the information provided on the Benefit web pages will answer most of your enquiries.  If, after reading these pages, you still have a query, there are various ways that you can obtain further help and advice about Housing and Council Tax Benefit

Where can I go to speak to someone in person?

 
You can visit First Point in Howden House on Union Street, S1 2SH.  First Point is open from 08.30am to 5.30pm, Monday to Friday.

How can I get to Howden House using public transport?

 
Check on Traveline for information and timetables for travelling by bus, train and tram to Howden House from anywhere in Sheffield and South Yorkshire. Type 'Union Street, Sheffield' in the 'travelling to' box.
 

I will be arriving by car, where can I park?

Can I get further help and advice in a Housing Office or Local First Point?

 
Yes, you can make an appointment to speak to a Benefits Advisor in the following Housing Offices and Local First Points –

I have difficulty getting around, can I get advice about Housing and Council Tax Benefit in my own home?

 
Yes, you can make an appointment for one of our advisors to visit you in your own home by telephoning (0114) 273 6187, during office hours.

How can I get independent advice?

 
Independent advice is available from the Citizens Advice Bureau.  There are also a number of local advice centres in and around the city, for more information go to Sheffield Advice Link.
 

Can I get information in other languages?

 
You can click on one the flags at bottom of the page.  Alternatively, you can visit Multikulti.  This site also provides information about racism and discrimination, debt, education, employment, health, housing and immigration, in a variety of languages including Urdu, Arabic, Farsi, Spanish and Albanian.

Alternatively you can contact the Council Tax Helpline on (0114) 273 6633, between 08.30 am to 5.30 pm, Monday to Friday. 
 
If you want to talk to someone in person about Council Tax, you can visit First Point in Howden House.  The opening hours are the same as stated above.
