Issues, Actions and Plans

The following are important issues in the South East area.  At the bottom of the page you will find downloadable copies of the Panel's plans

Environment
The South East Area Panel will continue to work with environmental groups across the area, and support the Eco Advisory partnership to ensure that the green space across the South East is well maintained and accessible to all.  The Panel will allocate Section 106  monies and its Small Highways Budgets to suitable projects, which will benefit people across the area.  The Panel also aims to achieve appropriate input by the Area Panel into local Planning issues

Community Safety
The South East Area Panel will continue to use a multi agency approach to address crime & the fear of crime across the South East of the city, working closely with the Mosborough and Handsworth Safer Neighbourhood Team to improve functioning of the two Neighbourhood Action Groups (NAGs). The Panel will also look at formation of Community Safety Groups to feed in to the NAGs.

Children and Young People
The South East Area Panel will have a continuing role within Mosborough Handsworth Service district, and support the work of Sheffield Futures.  The Panel aims to increase the voice and influence of young people across the South East of Sheffield, working on youth lead initiatives and developing a young NAG to allow young people to represent themselves and their views.

Supporting Communities
The South East Area Panel will continue to support the provision of new community facilities for Woodhouse.  There will be ongoing work to identify communities and minority groups that need support to access information and opportunities, as well as ongoing support for the local forums in the area including the Birley and Woodhouse Development Team, Beighton Villages Development Trust and the rebuilding of the SWaN estates.  The Panel will continue with project work to support Badger Dreamscheme, the Shirebrook Crew, and Shirebrook Summer Festival

NRF
The South East Area Panel has worked consistently with stakeholders and partners to develop and implement strategies that will improve the quality of life for those living in the area. During the last four years, it has taken the opportunities offered by Neighbourhood Renewal Funding (NRF) to continue its progress and to bring added value to work already being undertaken in our communities.  The South East Area Panel will continue this approach, with emphasis on the Closing The Gap target communities and neighbourhoods most in need.
