About The Area
The South Area is a large corporate area in Sheffield. Lying on the southern fringes on the city, it extends from Woodseats in the west, to Lowedges in the South, and Intake in the east.
The Area includes the entire ward of Beauchief and Greenhill, the majority of the Gleadless Valley ward and parts of Graves Park, Arbourthorne, Richmond and Birley wards and has a population of 58,900 (2001 Census). The Area is predominately residential with notable pockets of relative affluence and poverty in close proximity.
