Students and Landlords

Students

We would like to inform you that you as a tenant are responsible for making sure all your household waste is disposed of and recycled properly and legally.

We supply you with a black bin for all your general waste and a blue bin for all your paper & card and these are emptied by our contractor Veolia.  You can find out when your collection day is for both bins by checking the Veolia website

Please remember that everyone living in the house is responsible for the bins provided by putting them out for emptying and returning them back to your property after they have been emptied.  If bins are repeatedly left on the street everyone living in your house could be issued with a £100 fine.

Landlords

All landlords should be aware that waste generated as a result of their business means that they have a responsibility for ensuring that all waste left by students leaving the premises is disposed of properly and legally.

Leaving waste in the garden/yard could result in a £2,500 fine or illegally depositing waste on the street could also result in a £50,000 fine and up to 5 years imprisonment.

More information about landlord responsibility is available on the Responsible Landlord Scheme page of this website.
