Green Waste Sacks

We are giving away green waste sacks to help you dispose of your garden waste - up to six at a time. Available from libraries, First Points, housing offices, or the Town Hall, just pop in and ask for your free green waste sacks.  Once you've filled them, just ring the telephone number provided, and we'll come and collect them, at no charge to you.

Did you know...

Did you know that approximately 20% of the average household’s rubbish consists of green garden waste.  If you put this in black wheelie bins it has a negative impact on the environment as well as wasting a valuable resource.

The green sack collection is available to all residents of Sheffield and helps us in diverting waste away from landfill.

How does the scheme work?

  • Collect free sacks from locations below.
  • When the sacks are full the householder should contact the Sheffield City Council helpline on (0114) 273 4567 and select the option to go through to Veolia.
  • There must be a minimum of 3 sacks for collection.  A maximum limit of 12 sacks for collection also applies.
  • The materials collected will be sent to various facilities to be composted to help Sheffield increase its recycling rate.

For more information about this offer and other green waste recycling opportunities please contact the Veolia Recycling Helpline on 0845 355 5515.
