Recycling and Waste Bins

Our Service to You

Waste Services in Sheffield are provided by Veolia Environmental Services on behalf of Sheffield City Council. We work together in partnership to provide you with:

  • A black bin or other container for general waste that we will collect from the kerbside on the same day each week.
  • A blue bin for paper and card recycling that we will collect form the kerbside every 4 weeks (for most households in the City)
  • Assistance with your bin if no-one in your household is able to take the bin to the kerbside.  You need to apply for this service  look at our ‘Help with Collections’ page.
  • A return service, so that if your collection is missed because of a mistake by us, we will do our best to return within 1 working day of you letting us know

Help Us to Help You

To help us maintain a good service, please:

  • place your bin at the kerbside by 7am (unless you have been notified by us) on the scheduled day of collection, though you may put the bin out after 6pm on the day before collection day
  • take your bin back from the kerbside as soon as possible after collection and no later than 9am on the day after collection has taken place
  • do not put extra bags of general waste on top of or by your black bin.  We can only take the contents of your black bin with the lid closed flat
