The Environmental Protection Service works within the City Council and with other organisations, communities and individuals in the wider community of Sheffield to protect the environment for the benefit of everyone.
We do this by:
Section A
- Controlling noise from nuisance neighbours
- Dealing with public health issues such as blocked or broken drains and sewers, filthy and verminous premises and noxious/harmful accumulations
- Investigation and prosecution of fly tippers
- Dealing with dumped material on public and private land
- Handing out fixed penalty notices to people caught littering and those failing to clean up after their dogs
- Dealing with stray dogs
- Inspection of farms where animals are kept to ensure their welfare
- Licensing of various establishments including pet shops, boarding kennels and catteries
- Dealing with high hedges
Section B
- Controlling Noise pollution and Air pollution from industrial and commercial processes
- Controlling noise from pubs and clubs
- Dealing with noise and dust problems from construction sites
- Identifying contaminated land and ensuring it is made safe
