Agricultural Animals
Sheffield City Council employs officers, to deal with all farm animal-related problems or advice.
A duty is placed on each Local Authority to investigate and inspect registered holdings (that's farms or others who keep agricultural animals) to make sure that legislation is being complied with and to assist the proprietors should they need help or advice.
It is the Animal Health Inspector's job, along with that of other agencies like the Department of the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA), the British Cattle Movement Society and the Meat Hygiene Service, to make sure that all animals for human consumption are well cared for whilst being reared.
We also deal with licensing for certain animal movements, for more details go to the DEFRA website.
