Working on a supply basis can be very demanding; but it can be very rewarding too. It involves going into schools for short-term placements, usually to cover staff absence. Placements can be as short as half a day or as long as a full school term. Occasionally, these placements are extended or made permanent.

There are a number of benefits in working for SESSA. You would, for example:

  • receive a paid induction
  • receive free ongoing training to develop your skills, which you’d be paid for
  • be paid at the same rate you’d be paid at if you were working on a contract
  • have your own individual webpage which you can use 24 hours a day, seven days a week to view and accept available work

In addition, teachers are able to join the Teachers’ Pension Scheme and will be paid what they are entitled to regardless of where they are on the Main or Upper Pay Scales.
