“All pupils achieve well” Ofsted 2006

The Primary Inclusion Centre is a registered pupil referral unit and does not deliver national curriculum programmes of study.  Instead it provides learning experiences which match the needs of each child, both full-time and part-time.

The curriculum comprises of
  • basic skills (English, Maths and ICT), with plans linked to the national strategies and children Individual Education Plans
  • a selection of topics, which are planned with a focus on the key skills pupils need to learn in order to be able to reintegrate successfully to school
  • an emphasis on Personal, Social, Health Education and citizenship

Personal Development and Well-Being

“Pupils behave well in lessons and around the centre” Ofsted 2006

Pupils who attend the centre have had unsuccessful experiences with school.  The centre gives good personal support which successfully re-engages pupils with learning.  Individual needs are assessed in detail.
The centre also works in partnership with Shirle Hill Hospital, which is part of the Child and adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS).  It can make referrals to this service with the agreement of parents and carers.

Nurture
