Hospital and Home Education Service

The Hospital and Home Education Service provides access to education for children with medical needs, both in hospitals and by outreach teaching. We aim to minimise the disruption to the childrens' normal schooling, and to keep education alive in their lives.

Pupil referrals come to us from Sheffield schools or the medical sector.  Further enquiries or comments about our provision are welcome from parents and carers.  Please see the contact information for details.

The Service provides:

  • Education for children in Sheffield Hospitals.

  • Outreach teaching for children who are unable to attend school through illness or injury, either at home or at our Centre.

  • Support for school-age parents, including the expertise of a Specialist Learning Mentor and the provision of outreach teaching for the young mother during a period before and after the birth of the child.

  • A purchased service of Outreach teaching, either at home or at our Centre, for children who are anxious, withdrawn or school-phobic.
