Parenting Matters - Sheffield Parenting Strategy
Parents and the home environment they create are the single most important factor in shaping their children’s well-being, achievements and prospects
Children don’t come with a handbook! So, it is not unusual for parents to feel that they may need advice and support in their parenting role; they also may be unaware of the services that already exist or have difficulty in accessing them.
Sheffield City Council, working alongside its partner organisations, intends to increase parenting skills and capacity, helping parents and carers to be better informed about the services that are on offer to support them.
Parenting Matters
The vision of Parenting Matters, Sheffield’s Parenting Strategy, is one where confident parents have high expectations for their children and have the skills and commitment to support them in achieving the five outcomes expected for children in the 21st century in order to help them reach their full potential. The strategy can be downloaded at the bottom of this page.
National Parenting Information
The Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) has produced a publication, entitled Parent Know-How. It aims to make sure that parents can get the help they need, when they need it by providing information on a range of services available to parents. The Parent Know How publication can be downloaded at the bottom of this page.
