Early Years Reference Group

The Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) are changing the regulations with effect from 11 February 2008 so that at least one early years provider from the Private Voluntary and Independent (PVI) Sector should sit on the Schools Forum and Local Authorities (LA) are to establish an Early Years Reference Group (EYRG) to act as a sub-group to the Schools Forum.

A letter was sent to all PVI providers outlining the changes announced by the DCSF in relation to funding the free entitlement and the changes to the membership of the Schools Forum.  An application form requesting nominations to sit on the EYRG was enclosed with the letter.

A number of nominations were received from both the Private and Voluntary Sectors.  Meetings were held on the 5 and 13 February where nominations to the group were agreed.  A member was also identified to sit on the Schools Forum.

At the Primary Heads Steering Group on the 24 January nominations were received and agreed for two head teachers to be members of the EYRG.
