Analysing Cost of Delivering the Free Entitlement

The Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) require that all Local Authorities (LA) complete a cost analysis to determine the cost of delivering the free entitlement in the maintained and Private, Voluntary and Independent (PVI) Sector.

 

A guidance document called Early Years Funding Reform: PVI Cost Analysis Guide has been issued by the DCSF for LA to use and can be seen found on the everychildmatters website.

 

A paper was presented to the Schools Forum on the 19 February 2008 requesting approval on the way forward with gathering costs which was agreed.  The Early Years Reference Group (EYRG) were informed of the decision on the 11 March 2008, also at the meeting the format of the template to be used was agreed.

 

It was agreed that a number of providers were identified to take part  1-2-1 interviews, in addition to this a template was circulated to those providers not taking part in the interviews to enable further providers to take part in the analysis. 

 

Attached are copies of the detailed template used in 1-2-1 interviews and the simpler template used for all other providers.
