Childcare Sufficiency Assessment
In July 2007, as part of the statutory duty set out by the Childcare Act 2006, the Early Years Education and Childcare Service (EYECS) commissioned a market research company to carry out a parental demand survey. This was to gain an understanding of the level of demand for all types of childcare for children of all ages in Sheffield.
This citywide analysis was carried out on a Service District basis and formed part of the Childcare Sufficiency Assessment report, a copy of this report can be downloaded below.
Childcare Sufficiency Consultation
Following on from this a further Childcare Sufficiency Consultation is now taking place, to make sure there is enough childcare for parents and carers to allow them to work or take up education opportunities. The consultation is intended to build on the findings from the initial assessment and give more localised information.
If you are a Parent or Carer you may be contacted by QA Research (who have been commissioned to carry out the consultation) and asked to take part by completing a short survey, either by telephone or face to face.
The consultation will take place in all 38 Children Centre Areas across the city from June 2008 - March 2009. These surveys will be carried out in a series of stages, to see when the consultation is happening in your area download the schedule attached below or contact EYECS for more information.
All information gathered for the survey will be treated as confidential in accordance with the data protection Act.
If you have any questions about the consultation please contact EYECS on 0114 281 3785 or email sue.fox@sheffield.gov.uk.
