2 year old Pilot Project

Sheffield was chosen to pilot an important new initiative to find out whether providing nursery places for two year olds would bring significant benefits in terms of development, educational attainment and overall wellbeing.

The first phase of this project ran in 2007-2008 and involved approximately 90 children across the Burngreave/Shiregreen and Arbourthorne/Manor/Darnall Service Districts.  At any one time there are approximately 50 children on the pilot.

Funding has been agreed to extend this project over the next 3 years to cover more children across other areas of the city.  This will not, however, be universal provision as the project has strict eligibility criteria
