Sheffield Junior Fellowship
This Positive Action Partnership out-of-school project aims to enhance the aspirations, achievement and attainment of Black Minority Ethnic (BME) pupils at Key Stage 4.
Helping Young Stars Choose Success
The future is exciting, full of possibilities and challenges. Whatever choices a young person makes, they should be underpinned by drive and a desire for success whether at school, in further study, in work or elsewhere in life.
The Fellowship Programmes exist to help the young stars from the minority ethnic communities achieve personal growth as well as examination success. The programme gives youngsters the knowledge and confidence that will help them make informed and positive decisions about the direction of their lives. We equip them with skills to succeed and in doing so we are broadening the talent pool of potential leaders for our community and the world of business. They are worth the investment because they are our future.
How The Programme Works
Students are nominated by their school Gifted and Talented Teacher at the end of Year 9 and must achieve Level 5 in their Year 9 SATs examinations in English, Mathematics and Science. During the two years leading to GCSE examinations, students receive training from a range of facilitators. Junior fellows take part in a co-ordinated range of activities.
- 20 out-of-school Saturday seminars
- An outdoor education residential

- Have expressed a wish to continue their education post-16
- Can provide evidence from teacher reports that they would benefit from additional support
- Can demonstrate their commitment to participate fully in all aspects of the programme. We will need consent from parents/carers/guardians before a young person starts on the programme.
