Private Finance Initiative (PFI)

PFI contracts relate to school buildings that are managed by Private Sector Partners.
 
Three of the 4 Sample Schools in the Building Schools for the Future (BSF) programme (Silverdale, Newfield and Talbot) will be PFI schools.  There are also three operational PFI contracts covering twelve schools in Sheffield.
 
 

PFI 1

The schools that were rebuilt in the first PFI contract are:
 
  • Ecclesfield Secondary School
  • Fir Vale Secondary School
  • King Edward VII Lower School
  • Mosborough Primary School
  • Owler Brook Primary School
  • Tapton Secondary School
 
These schools opened in 2001 and were built in partnership with Pyramid consortium.  The schools were constructed by Interserve who also manage the facilities.
 
 

PFI 2

The schools that were rebuilt in the second PFI contract are:
 
  • Hinde House 3-16 School (Secondary Phase)
  • King Ecgbert Secondary School
 
These schools opened in 2005 and were built in partnership with Priorgate consortium.  The schools were constructed by Gleesons and the facilities are managed by Mitie.
 
 

PFI 3

The schools that were rebuilt in third PFI contract are:
 
  • Grenoside Primary School
  • Hinde House 3-16 School (Primary Phase)
  • Meadowhead Secondary School
  • Westfield Secondary School
 
These schools opened in 2006 and were built in partnership with the Academy consortium.  The schools were constructed by Kier who also manage the facilities.
