New Anti-Bullying Guidance and consultation on new duty to record incidents of bullying
The Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) has published new guidance to help school staff recognise, report and respond to sexist, sexual and transphobic bullying.
The DCSF has also launched a consultation on introducing a new statutory requirement to record serious and persistent incidents of bullying between school pupils and incidents of verbal and physical abuse against school staff. The deadline for responses is 4 March 2010.

Anti-Bullying Guidance and Resource Pack
Guidance entitled Safe to Learn: Embedding Anti Bullying work in Schools can be downloaded from the Teachernet website. This guidance was issued by the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) in 2007 and includes useful information on the following subjects:
The DCSF has recently launched a new anti-bullying resource pack aimed at preventing the bullying of young people with special educational needs and disabilities. Follow this link to the Make Them Go Away - Resource Pack. This pack will be useful for all staff providing pastoral support for children and young people in educational settings.
Anti-Bullying DVD
Some time ago we produced an Anti-Bullying DVD in Sheffield that explored what bullying is and how it is being combated in our schools. It was called "ABTV". We have distributed hundreds of copies to schools and still receive requests for further copies. We have now made this DVD available via the Sheffield Healthy Schools website.

The report provides an update around the issue of bullying; how and where it impacts on children’s and young people’s lives in Sheffield and what proposals are being developed to respond to it.
Anti-Bullying Alliance
The Anti-Bullying Alliance (ABA), based at the National Children's Bureau (NCB), has a website bringing current information, resources and advice on bullying into one place and is also responsible for organising the annual Anti-Bullying Week. The theme for the last Anti-Bullying Week held in November 2009 was Cyberbullying.
The ABA website acts as a gateway to the latest materials and services provided by Alliance members (currently over 60 organisations). Teachers, youth workers and other professionals looking for lesson ideas or guidance documents, parents wanting to know what they can do and young people wanting confidential advice will all be able to find the information and support they need. There are also details for organisations that provide help lines and direct support services, including ABA members ChildLine, NSPCC, Kidscape and Parentline Plus.
