Pledge for Success
We've launched this city-wide campaign to help our children and young people succeed in life. We're inviting you to pledge your time or money to support children and young people. Every contribution counts, no matter how small. We hope that you will feel able to join in this campaign and make a pledge of some kind.
We also recognise that many of you will already be doing positive activities with your children and grandchildren, nieces and nephews. It is important to us that, where this is the case, we capture that activity and ensure we get the most from it as a city. So, please tell us about new and existing commitments you are prepared to continue. Your pledge can help to shape the futures of young people.
Examples of Pledges
- Go into your local primary school and read with a child
- Help out at your local school’s breakfast or after school club
- Act as a role model for a young person and offer them your guidance
- Continuing to learn yourself by attending a short course
- Sponsor a study support or holiday club.
These are examples of pledges you can do with your children or grandchildren, nieces or nephews:
- Be a school governor at your child's school
- Go to parents’ evenings
- Take them to and pick them up from school
- Encourage them to read and do homework in the evenings
- Get support and advice about their education or home life
- Read with them at bed time
