School Organisation Plan 2008

Although the City Council is no longer required to produce a separate School Organisation Plan as it now forms part of the Children and Young People's Plan it has proved a useful document for many people so the Planning Team in the Children and Young People's Directorate will continue to produce the plan each year.

The purpose of the plan is to provide a context and a greater openness, transparency and participation for decisions about adding or removing school places.

Although there is no statutory obligation to consult on the plan the City Council is committed to listen closely to all views on matters that affect people in Sheffield. The plan has been distributed to interested parties including schools and the local Dioceses. Copies are also in all local libraries.

You can download a copy of the various sections of the plan on the following pages. Because the plan is so large we have had to split it into 4 pages.

  • Page 1 contains: Contents page; Introduction to the plan and the vision; Why plan school places?; Pupils and places in Sheffield; Capital Strategy
  • Page 2 contains: What's happening in your area; Service District profiles; Catholic primary and secondary schools
  • Page 3 contains: Planning for Special Educational Needs; 14-19 provision; Appendices 1-3
  • Page 4 contains: Appendices 4-11
