Public Consultation on a proposal to replace Myers Grove and Wisewood Secondary Schools with a new school

Children and Young People's Service have been consulting on the proposal to replace Myers Grove and Wisewood Secondary Schools with a new school.

Background

Sheffield is one of four Authorities selected by the Government to be a Pathfinder for the Building Schools for the Future (BSF) programme, a ‘once-in-a-lifetime’ opportunity to renovate the whole of the secondary school estate. The funding provided through the programme allows local authorities to rebuild or remodel all its secondary school buildings over a period of 10-15 years.

What is the proposal?

Sheffield is now putting forward proposals to get funding for the next phase of the BSF programme, which will be completed in 2010/11. The Authority is proposing to discontinue Myers Grove and Wisewood Secondary schools and a Proposing Group of parents have come forward with a view to running a new 11-19 on the Wood Lane site. The decision will be taken at the Council's Cabinet on 30th January 2008. The full Cabinet Report proposal can be found in the cabinet agendas area.
