Sheffield Scheme for Financing Schools

Every Local Authority has to have a Scheme for Financing Schools. This document defines the financial relationship between the Authority and the schools in its area.

The Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) provides Local Authorities with a model scheme, which they must adopt. However they can amend or add to the scheme, if they wish, to reflect any local changes or policies. Sometimes a Local Authority has to make revisions to its scheme that are directed by the DCSF.

All schools should be consulted on any amendments or additions to the scheme and they all have to be approved by the schools forum.

Following consultation with schools and approval by the Schools Forum the Sheffield Scheme for Financing Schools 2009/10 is now available as a downloadable document at the bottom of this page. This revised Scheme replaces the previous Scheme released in April 2008.
