Sheffield City Hall concert.

City Hall Concert 2010

Following the hugely successful 2009 annual concert, we are pleased to announce that next years concert will take place on Sunday the 21st of March 2010 at the City Hall, Sheffield. Further details will be available nearer to the date.

Opportunities are provided for almost all musical instrumentalists in Sheffield to join with others and play in one or more of our ensembles.

Ensembles, led by experienced teachers and musicians, meet weekly during term time rehearsing for concerts towards the end of each term and perform at the Bannerdale Centre in Sheffield, the Sheffield City Hall and at venues across the city.

We hold an extensive music library so that our young players have chance to perform an enviably wide musical repertoire and, within a structured framework, there is progression from one ensemble to another with senior ensembles making regular and prestigious foreign tours.

Additional Information and Benefits

  • It's an excellent way of putting all those hard hours of practice to positive use!
  • All the ensembles meet for 31 weeks per year at the Bannerdale Centre or at Firth Park Community College.
  • The rehearsals are during term time and vary from 1 to 2 hours.
  • Residential weekend courses are organised for several of the ensembles. These prove to be an excellent way of establishing friendships.
  • The full cost for annual membership in one ensemble is £84, or £35 per term. Any additional child / ensemble will be charged at a reduced rate of £71 per academic year or £30 per term. A family of 3 or more children / ensembles will be charged the reduced rate of £212 per academic year.
  • A child will be invited to attend a rehearsal to see "how they get on".
  • In a few cases, there are limited number of places in a particular ensemble, so entry is by audition.
