Parental Responsibility
The Department for Education and Skills (DfES) has issued guidance to schools that states that everyone who is a parent has a right to participate in decisions about their child's education.
The guidance gives details on:
- the definition of a parent
- parental responsibility
- the care of a child
- court orders and parental responsibility
- what schools should do particularly in respect of the provision of information to parents and obtaining parental consent for things like extra-curricular activities and school trips
