Changing a child's name

 
If your child has changed name or address you need to put all the details in writing and send it to the school your child attends. 
 
You cannot change your child's name on the school register without first changing it legally. The procedures to do this are as follows:
 

Adults 

This can be done in one of 3 ways:
  • acquire any surname by common usage but must NOT be done for fraudulent purposes.
  • change your name by statutory declaration. To do this you will need to contact a magistrates court and make a declaration to a Justice of the Peace. There is a fee of £8.00 and you will need to have a solicitor.
  • change your name by deed poll. To do this contact a solicitor. It will cost at least £25.00
 

Children
