Claiming Free School Meals While Getting Tax Credits

From 6 April 2003, parents of children who are in receipt of Child Tax Credit and whose annual income (as assessed by Inland Revenue) does not exceed £14,155, will be entitled to free school meals.
 
Children whose parents are in receipt of a working tax credit are not entitled to free school meals.
 
Form TC602 (Revenue and Customs tax credit aware notice) provides the information that allows you to check if you are entitled to free School meals
   
TC602 (Revenue and Customs Tax Credit Notice) checks :
  1. Dates on the form must be in the current tax year.
  2. An award of Child Tax Credit;
  3. No award of Working Tax Credit;
  4. Annual income that does not exceed £14,155.
