Children Missing Education (CME) Handbook Consultation July 2008

This page gives information about a current consultation on the CME Handbook.  This is the first consultation since we established the team in 2003.  Since then many things have changed, locally and nationally which all impact upon the effectiveness of the strategies employed to safeguard ‘children missing from education’.  This is your chance to have your say on what you feel has worked well and what further improvements need to be made.

What We Have Done So Far

The first stage of the process involved sending out a postal survey to schools.  This survey was also available electronically. This stage of the consultation closed on 18 July.  The draft results of this survey are downloadable at the bottom of this page.

We will be analysing the results and producing some proposals which we will post on this page shortly.

What We Plan to Do Next

We will be holding two focus groups in September and inviting colleagues from schools, Sheffield City Council and other external partners to contribute to the process.  The first focus group will look at 'pupil engagement' and how we can work together to enable children to successfully engage back into education.  The second focus group will look at 'pupil tracking' and how we can improve the way we identify the whereabouts of children that have become missing from education.

Please contact us if you feel that you would like to participate in either of the focus groups or if you have anything which you would like to contribute to this consultation activity.
