EYECS - About us
The Team:
The City Council’s Early Years Education and Childcare Service (EYECS), part of the Children and Young People’s Directorate, is the service responsible for helping to deliver the government’s childcare strategy throughout Sheffield. We work within the new Service Districts, which bring together local services to focus on locally agreed priorities - contact the Sheffield 0-19+ Partnership to find out more.
Our responsibilities fall under four main areas - to maintain the city’s childcare places, to fund and ensure there’s enough nursery education for eligible three and four year-olds, to help develop the childcare workforce, and to deliver the city’s Children’s Centres.
For more information on work currently being undertaken within these four areas, please see the Early Start newsletter.
