Part Time Study

From September 2008 the support package available to part-time students will consist of non-repayable grants available for tuition fees and study costs.
 
These grants are to assist part-time students financially towards tuition fee costs and additional support with books etc.
 
 

Who is eligible?

 
  • You must have been resident in the UK for the last 3 years and have settled status in the UK and/or EEA
  • You must not already have a degree from a UK institution
  • You must not have received 8 years funding under the part-time scheme
 
 

Course Eligibility

 
The course must:
 
  • be designated for funding purposes
  • be at least 50% of a full-time equivalent (FTE) course
  • be provided at a UK publicly funded institution
  • be at least one academic year long
  • be completed in no more than twice the length of the FTE course
 
 

Financial Assessment

 
These grants will be means-tested based, upon the student's (*and where applicable partner's) income for on the last tax year.
 
  • Students can receive a maximum of fee grant and course grant entitlement if the income level is less than £16,090. If the household income is between £16,090 and £26,826 students can receive partial assistance towards the tuition fees.
          If the household income is between £16,090 and £26,826 students can receive a 
          partial Course Grant.     
 
(Students with partners and/or dependent children can receive a disregard on the above income threshold, of £2,000 for the partner, £2,000 for the eldest child and £1,000 for each other dependent child.)
 
 

The Support Package

 
The fee grant within the support package is pro-rata depending on the intensity of the course of at least 50% of the full-time equivalent (FTE). The education establishment will confirm the intensity of the course for each academic year.
