Learning Skills and Employment
The Learning, Skills and Employment section is part of the Lifelong Learning and Skills Service of Sheffield City Council. The Service’s mission with regard to learning, skills and employment is:
- To contribute to social inclusion and economic regeneration in Sheffield by securing lifelong learning and employment opportunities in response to the needs and aspirations of young people, adults, employers and communities.
- To do this by supporting innovation, diversity and excellence of provision, creating effective partnerships and by driving up participation, attainment and progression at all ages.
The Service delivers numerous learning and skills programmes and employment projects through its training centres and partners. We also work with many community and voluntary organisations in the City to deliver learning and training in community locations.
The Service also works with its partners to develop programmes to prepare jobless people for new opportunities, and to build the strategies to help match the qualities that employers require in the workforce with the skills and knowledge that local people have.
