Skills for Life
‘Skills for Life’ are the skills you need to live, work and progress in society today They are the reading, writing, language and numeracy skills needed for everyday life.
As a team we work through local networks to develop ‘Skills for Life’ strategies throughout Sheffield. These aim to raise awareness of literacy, numeracy and language issues and to develop and coordinate provision at a local level. Through community organisations and our own delivery, in Family Learning Courses and ICT, we enable learners to identify their needs and to access provision.
We offer a range of short courses in ESOL, literacy and numeracy as first step learning, national tests in numeracy and literacy at level 1 and 2 at our Service on Crookesmoor Road. We signpost learners to classes with other providers via Sheffield Futures.
