Community Programmes and Partnership

The work of the community programmes and partnership team is, primarily, targeted on areas of the city where the take-up of adult learning is low and where many adults do not have formal qualifications.

The team works in close partnership with local organisations, e.g community and voluntary groups, local Sure Starts, schools, to:

  • Organise first-step learning programmes, in response to learners’ needs
  • Organise learning that contributes to personal and community development
  • Support the work of local lifelong learning and skills/employment forums and other organisations involved in community capacity-building
  • Develop local adult learning and skills plans
  • Support the planned growth of the local adult learning infrastructure
  • Co-ordinate the local adult learning and skills offer - from all local providers - to avoid duplication and gaps and develop clear pathways from informal learning to qualifications and employment
