Home School Agreement

The requirement to have a Home School Agreement and Parental Declaration was introduced in the School Standards and Framework Act 1998.   Governing Bodies should have procedures in place to monitor and review the Home School Agreement on a two or three year cycle.

Guidance was sent to schools by the Department for Education and Employment (DfEE), now the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF), in December 1998.  This included examples of Home School Agreements adopted by schools across the country and how schools consulted with parents.  Current guidance on the Home School Agreement from the DCSF can be found on the Parental Involvement pages of The Standards Site.

Local guidance was provided for Sheffield schools in the 1999 Summer Term and can be downloaded from the bottom of the page.  Further information is available on the Home School Agreement on the In-School Issues for Parents and Carers pages of this website.  You can also find a Questions Framework on the Home School Agreement on our Questions Frameworks for Governors pages.
