Anti-Bullying
Guidance entitled Safe to Learn: Embedding Anti Bullying work in Schools can be downloaded from the Teachernet website. This guidance was issued by the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) in 2007 and includes useful information on dealing with Homophobic, Racist and Cyber-bullying.
Please visit our Anti-Bullying Policy page, for guidance on developing a school policy.
Anti-Bullying Alliance
The Anti-Bullying Alliance (ABA), based at the National Children's Bureau (NCB), has a website bringing current information, resources and advice on bullying into one place and is also responsible for organising the annual Anti-Bullying Week ('Being Different, Belonging Together', 17-21 November 2008).
The ABA website acts as a gateway to the latest materials and services provided by Alliance members (currently over 60 organisations). Teachers, youth workers and other professionals looking for lesson ideas or guidance documents, parents wanting to know what they can do and young people wanting confidential advice will all be able to find the information and support they need.

The website includes a ‘Hometown’ section with an interactive map that allows visitors to explore issues around bullying through the experiences of the town’s residents. In one scenario, set in the local shop, an adult witness sees a child being bullied. Another story line involves a child being bullied by email. Each story line ends with links to further advice. There are also details for organisations that provide help lines and direct support services, including ABA members ChildLine, NSPCC, Kidscape and Parentline Plus.
