Training Co-ordinator Governor
Each Governing Body should nominate a Governor to take on the role of Training
Co-ordinator. Training on the Role of the Training Co-ordinator Governor is available once a year, and the next course takes place on:

The Remit for the Training Co-ordinator Governor
This role should be to take a lead responsibility for ensuring that Governing Body training and development takes place and should include:
- Encouraging/ensuring that new Governors take part in induction training either by attending a centrally organised training course, contacting the Governor Support Team to arrange a course at your school or using the Online Training Programme
- Ensuring that school based induction is provided for all new Governors (visit our Welcoming New Governors page)
- Ensuring that training and development are discussed by the Governing Body as an agenda item
- Making proposals for whole Governing Body training and development sessions
- Negotiating whole Governing Body training with the Local Authority Governor Support Team
- Making bookings for training courses and other arrangements
- Keeping a record of training undertaken by the Governing Body which can be used as evidence for the Self Evaluation Form (SEF), Financial Management Standards in Schools (FMSiS) and for OfSTED
- Encouraging and supporting individual Governors to identify their training needs
- Attending training
- Taking the lead on the development of school based resources for Governors which may include:
- Distribution of information about school events
- Systems for sharing information which help Governors to know the school
- A Governors’ library which has publications and other information Governors might find useful
