Applying to Vary the Designated Premises Supervisor

Any premises where the licence authorises the sale of alcohol must have a designated premises supervisor.

The designated premises supervisor must hold a personal licence. No alcohol can be supplied at a time where there is not a designated premises supervisor.

The holder of a premises may apply to vary the premises licence to specify a new individual as the designated premises supervisor.

How to apply

You must complete the downloadable application form at the bottom of the page in accordance with the guidance and submit it along with:

  • A fee of £23.00;
  • the consent of the proposed designated premises supervisor; and
  • the original licence document.

If for any reason you are not able to gain the consent of the designated premises supervisor or submit the original licence document, please contact us.

You must give notice of your application to South Yorkshire Police (address in downloadable guidance below) by sending them a copy of the application form.

Please note: the variation to the designated premises supervisor can take effect immediately or on a date specified by yourself, however, where the police are satisfied that granting the application would undermine the crime prevention objective, they are able to object to the application.

Where an objection is received by the police, a hearing must be held to consider it.
