Sheffield Highway Maintenance PIN

 

The Council is seeking to appoint a contractor who will provide a comprehensive 'fence-to-fence' integrated highway maintenance service that will meet the Council's contractual requirements and provide benefits for local communities and the economic prosperity of the City.

 

The vision for the Project is for a holistic and co-ordinated approach to Highway Maintenance throughout the City, aiming to create user perceptions of a seamless service, and to restore the streetscene to a quality which will meet the Council’s aspirations.

 

The Project will address the maintenance backlog on Sheffield’s highway network, bringing all roads in the City up to a good standard and keeping them at that standard throughout the 25-year life of the Project.  The Project has a total value in excess of £2bn over the 25-year contract term.

 

The Project will be city-wide and will include but is not limited to: the rehabilitation and ongoing maintenance of carriageways and footways, streetlights, signs, traffic signals, bridges and street furniture and related environmental maintenance of the highway, design and build of improvement schemes and other highway related services.

 

The Council will be holding an Industry Event on the 2nd September 2008 and organisations interested in attending can register their details with Liz Buck, Procurement Workstream Leader by email: liz.buck@sheffield.gov.uk. An Information Pack will be made available to organisations who register an interest in the Project.
